Toyota finally caves and announces cars with Android Auto compatibility

Not relying on third-party infotainment systems, Toyota was unable to withstand industry demands and started to offer Android Auto support.

Japanese automotive giant Toyota, the world’s largest automobile manufacturer, has always avoided integrating Android Auto into its vehicles due to security concerns. Although the company wanted to create its own infotainment system based on Automotive Grade Linux for its cars, the company was able to withstand the trends of the sector.

In January 2018, the company announced the launch of Apple CarPlay for the 2019 Avalon model, thus opening doors for third-party infotainment systems for the first time. On Thursday (yesterday) a new statement, Toyota, CarPlay’ın Android Auto’in also announced that the vehicles will take place.

According to Toyota’s 2020 model 4Runner, Tacoma, Tundra and Sequoia cars, Android Auto support will have. In addition, the 2018 Ygo models will be available on the 2018 Aygo and Europe and will also have Android Auto support. Today, it is possible to say that Apple CarPlay and Android Auto have become an industry standard.
