This music and podcast listening platform, which can be used both paid and free, announced the number of paid subscribers in June and announced the increase in the number of paid subscribers compared to April.
Spotify, one of the most popular online music platforms of today, announced that as of June 30, the number of global paid subscribers increased to 108 million. The company’s April report stated that the number of paid subscribers was 100 million.
When the users of the free version are included, the total number of active users per month reaches 232 million. Here, too, an increase of 29% is observed compared to last year.
Apple Music, one of the company’s competitors, announced that the number of paid subscribers in June was 60 million. Globally, Apple Music has surpassed Spotify in the number of paid subscribers in the US in early 2019. Spotify had 26 million paid subscribers in the US and Apple Music reached 28 million.
Spotify increased by 8% to 108 million compared to April and estimated that the number of paid subscribers at the end of the fourth quarter of 2019 could be 125 million.
