Aiming to reduce shipping costs, Apple wants to move Mac Pro production to China.
Apple’s only major device fully integrated in the US is known as the Mac Pro 2013. This device is unified in Austin and has the I Made in the USA ”symbol. Apple is considering removing 30 percent of iPhone production from China, but according to the Wall Street Journal, the new Mac Pro will be produced by Quanta, a Chinese supplier.
The Wall Street Journal’s sources say that Quanta’s factories are closer to Apple’s other suppliers in Asia, underlining that this could reduce shipping costs.
An Apple spokesman explained to the Wall Street Journal that merging is a stage of production and that the firm is able to produce in 30 US states while spending $ 60 billion on 9,000 US suppliers.
Gibi Like all our products, the new Mac Pro was designed entirely in California, and the device contains parts made in many countries, including the US, ’Apple’s spokesman said.
Due to the tax brought by Trump, Apple’s production will probably cost the company expensive. Apple sent a letter to US Trade Representative Robert Lighthizer last week asking the government to reconsider this policy. Apple also said that lifting the tax would help them fight the company’s global competitors.
The letter says that US taxes reduce Apple’s global competitiveness. In addition, the letter, “Apple is competing in global markets, the Chinese companies in the United States is not very large share, and therefore they will not be affected by the tax imposed by the United States, such as Apple,” he said.
